From my historical travel records I use Don Muang Airport at least 90% of the time.

Don Muang Airport is smaller, easier and faster to clear immigration.
My record is 10 minutes from the moment plane door opens (aerobridge alighting) to walk out of immigration.
Cons is no aerobridge alighting if you're taking low cost carriers.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is much bigger but takes longer time to clear immigration.
Pros is modern amenities (expensive) and train connection to city within 30min.

Talking about food, there is this TK seafood at Yaowarat (Chinatown) i heard a lot of good food there.

Suvarnabhumi Airport immgration has improve a lot in term of checking and clearing the passport. The cons about this airport if you've teerak waiting for you or have other domestic flight but need to clear the immgration first (connecting flight). You need to rush even you give about 3hrs allowance. Twice nearly missed my domestic flight, after that learnt good lesson. No more.

Usually if got no aerobrige need to take the bus, and from the bus drop from point need to walk at least 500M before reach the immgration.

Total timing to clear everything including taking your luggage from the carousell, approximately 45mins.

The immgration has open more booth, unlike last time.

I still prefer Suvarnabhumi airport.

5555+ beside the lounge, they still have booths for you charge your phone while waiting for the flight. Not sure about Don Muang. Never been to Don Muang before.

Dun say I bias against Thailand, give 2 examples from 2 different countries which I have to vomit blood.

1) In Vietnam, I wanted to deposit USD50 over the bank counter to keep my bank acct alive but I was refused unless I have an official letter like from my company stating this USD50 is my salary or whatever reason.... I vomited blood on the spot.... My own acct with my passport and only USD50, I couldn't deposit. What they could do, closed my account, withdraw all my cash and opened another acct.... what logic was this or how stupid or silly was this?

2) In SCB Thailand, I wanted to change my mobile no. With my passport and ATM card, I couldn't change my mobile.. Vomit blood... I needed to bring along my passbook... The next day I brought my passbook, they looked at it, ya original passbook, returned me passbook, photocopied my passport, filled and signed a form then changed the mobile no. Again, what logic or how stupid this was??

Today I at Nataree one taxi refuse to take a grp of yipun kias ...... In front of his windscreen still got paper write big big NO JAPANESE :eek:

Thats why nowadays I commute either by MRT/BTS or motorsai ...... Taxi drivers nowadays very guai lan - this place don go la ....... Go but no meter la... More dulan is go already no meter then halfway say jam like fuck ask you alight take motorsai :mad:

BKK taxi is doing this, "mai pai" or no meter for donkey years. The whole Thailand knows except useless official pretend dunno. That's why Thais will open door ask driver whether wants to go then board the taxi. When I first time in BKK, I dunno. Flagged down a taxi, opened door and immediately sat inside then driver said, "500thb" or "mai pai", I had to get out of the taxi, damn stupid.

You dam wrong about your uncle. In 1985 to 1990ties, I only use BKK public buses, walked the railway tracks (totally poverty housing) Bet you never walk that sector before.......anyway you cannot experience this any more.

In JKT, I used public bus to travel around too, until an accident happened......

Taxi drivers nowadays very guai lan

Some taxi drivers are alright but majority sucks! Those taxis waiting outside the clubs especially. Damn attitude.

There's once, my friend residing at Pram 3, when asked the taxi open price 350 bht no meter. Given she slightly high, she cursed the taxi driver. :D

The taxi driver not happy, step out of his taxi.

I just told the taxi driver she's drunk. She just now talked nonsense. Then walk off.

Lost his job because he cheated the yipun volunteer. Double his price to his usual destination. But I think the driver deserved that. Gas consider cheap in Thailand. According to the yipun he was charge 750฿. His usual price with meter is 350 bht.

If want to earn, must agar agar, this one greedy.

Some taxi drivers, open meter but also cb kia, they go longer route. When the place is familiar, I'll just tell the taxi to go by my route. :D

Phuket is after all another "once in a lifetime place" to go to; but IMHO, you'll fall in love with the Pearl of the Andaman Sea - as I did many eons ago - once you spend a bit of time there!

Plenty of really great things to do during the day and at night, Patong is always there; but I many times instead just prefer to go to the "neighbourhood bars" dotted all over the island and where its not quite as raunchy, pushy or even "professional" as is the case with Patong and most other "entertainment zone" establishments in Thailand.

At Swampy, lookout for 'idle' gates (with 'a' suffix like C2a). But small monkey rooms with standing room likely only.

If you got pass to C&P Lounge (not airline lounge), there's a special smoking room up escalator to next floor (part of lounge). Quiet with view (and a handy extinguisher :p).

If you are connecting as in domestic terminal, NO smoking rooms. But did see ah tiongs don't give a shit at toilet area:cool:

PS: Novotel Phenchit -good corner location on main suk, just next to BTS. And conveniently minutes away from Nana's sins. Used to stay at Aethos 200m in soi. Liked that stretch with nice classy 4 Seasons and hiso mall. Across you got the Embassy row.

Locals and guys in the know - like those who posts quite regularly on the Phuket thread like cOOlsOul etc - knows where to go for the best quality and experience. These places are a stark difference from Patong and the "Darkies" that are the favorites of the farangs are NOT to be found there.

OTH, no, Phuket is actually NOT a great sex destination - there are others way better places to go to if all you want is sex. But it is a great OVERALL destination for those of us who has a bit more time, prefer to mix "some sex" with other vacation pursuits and don't really mind having to pay a bit more to get precisely what we want.

LOL - yes, but in Pattaya, just about all the bars - neighbourhood or otherwise - are populated with unshaven, beer bellied, short panted and red-faced farangs reeking of...... God knows what!

IMHO, the whole of Phuket is quite a bit more "Up-class" than Pattaya - even comparing Patong with your various Sois. Most of these pure mongering dregs stay away from Phuket because it IS a bit more pricey there. Thank goodness - may they ALL stay away!

see I went Phuket...chiong Patong once or twice...then again Phuket chiong Phuket town without leaving for Patong...shop everywhere then nothing else liao...:)

Golf - most memorable...played at the Blue Canyon Resort...played twice 18 holes at the Canyon course and once at the Lake course...then Lake Course was not even open to public...for both courses the greens and fairways were so nice and just been there playing feels great...even hv the opportunity to hit a driver on the fairway on one par 5...:)

THE LAND Transport Department is studying the feasibility of doubling the surcharge for taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport from Bt50 at present.
Transport Minister Prajin Juntong said an evaluation of the proposal to raise the surcharge to Bt100 would be completed by January 29, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported.

If the feasibility study result was in favour of the proposal, which came after taxi drivers complained they had insufficient income, a surcharge increase may be allowed, Prajin said.

The required regulation amendment for such a rise would take about two weeks to complete, he said.

The surcharge at Don Mueang Airport would also be raised if an increase in the surcharge at Suvarnabhumi went ahead, he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has urged taxi drivers not to take advantage of passengers, referring to the infamous case involving a cab driver at Suvarnabhumi Airport and a Japanese tourist that has gone viral on social media.

During the weekly broadcast of his TV programme "Returning Happiness to the People" on Friday night, Prayut urged drivers to turn their fare meters on and not turn down passengers, be they Thais or foreigners.

According to Prayut, an advanced queue-management system is used at Suvarnabhumi to eliminate the issue of drivers choosing passengers.

He said that because the number of complaints had risen about drivers failing to turn on their meters or turning down passengers, the airport set up taxi checkpoints at gates one to eight last Monday to inspect passenger queue tickets and ensure all drivers turn on their meters.

Actually ...... I don't much care if you or anybody else go to Phuket or not. Less people going, the better it is for me.

Gotta tell you though, never mind that it's an island with lots of sea breezes - it can get hot .... And also rainy in the summer. But wait too long for better weather, and you'll hit the Xmas to cny high season with the crowding and higher still prices.

IMHO and strictly suiting my own druthers, I prefer October and November or the period right after cny。

DSLR best, cause even the teeth yellow, can see clearly once you upload into the com. I'm using MacBook Pro retina to edit some photos.

Street food is good but hygiene levels not up to mark, best to avoid for us because we got lots of stuff to do in BKK and then PAT coming LNY.....BTW, who needs to cut his birdy...what happened:confused:

If my memory serves me correct the blanja makan was for lunch.
When I finally met Ah Pek and Soi6 they said they finished makan liao. :cool:

The "play them out" incident is supposedly night time drinking session.
I did not meet them due to some other matters.

So technically I did not "owe" them any blanja makan. :p
Can only say hope there'll another opportunity for that.

In 2014 I blanja makan Ah Pek and friends at Kuala Lumpur once.

Remembering the days when I first stepped onto Ratchada, Palazzo was my first hotel and Kuang seafood was my food n beer restaurant. Palazzo was just a bridge crossing....

Kuang seafood, food has deteriorated after moving to new building yrs ago but still eatable. It is now locate quite a long walking distance from either nearest MRT stations. They also have a personal tuk tuk to fetch customers to and fro between carpark and restaurant.

The boss has 2 daughters who are always there as cashier, 1 of them quite fair n chio. U guys can go n "bio" her :D

I always go nearby there to have Issan dishes instead. :D Occasionally will be there for seafood.

For food, Phahonyotin Lao Lao seafood (can't remember which BTS station) is almost identical to Kuang, this frequent more by Thais compares to Kuang with tourists....I can say, they do provide good alternative and good food.

At Swampy, lookout for 'idle' gates (with 'a' suffix like C2a).

PS: Novotel Phenchit -good corner location on main suk, just next to BTS. And conveniently minutes away from Nana's sins. Used to stay at Aethos 200m in soi. Liked that stretch with nice classy 4 Seasons and hiso mall. Across you got the Embassy row.

Yes fully agree bro. Good area I like it. Stayed at both novotel and aetas. Both excellent hotels. Novotel abit more convenient as bts just outside hotel. If you are Accor leclub member they have free supper/dinner at top level club. The satay is not bad.

Aetas is inside soi, have to walk quite abit from main road or take their tuku(spelling?). I prefer aetas room better though. Standard room bigger than novotel. Next time I like to try aetas at lumpini, further away from action but I hear the hotel is better than aetas bangkok and about same price

Note that hotel rates in Phuket differ vastly depending on if high, low, or semi-low etc season.

I don't myself need hotels when in Phuket, but always advise friends - especially those wanting to stay around Patong - to just book the first night lodging and then go on a walk-about to get a better deal. Like you say, there's tons of hotels, especially around there. Works best during the lower season - and do remember to bargain!

Of late, I've been using trivago to source the best deals for other destinations - pretty good!

Since we're TCSS ing, one thing that always bothers me is the habit of too many just quoting whole posts - especially long ones and with pictures - that takes forever to scroll down. We went there on sunday taking the regular shuttle river boat to the last Nonthaburi pier and before taking a shuttle mini van to Ko Ket island via the temple pier, we ate the pig organ soup after the pier exit gate and kway chap & roast meats at the wet market but didn't try the satay.
Going back, took the ricksaw from temple to the main road and a shuttle mini van to phayathai Road bts station.

If talking about the chicken rice beside Big C, the uncle runs road leow... Just met a SG uncle selling "peng chicken wing" in Meng chai.... told me his chicken wing is the best in BKK n costs 20thb per piece. His only income from chicken wing n married a Thai. U guys can go n try.

Juz some food info sharing ......... For roasted duck fans can go to Rawanstar restaurant at Rachatwat Market. Good and inexpensive ........ Always order half duck and wantoon dumplings soup :D If i never rmb wrongly close at 3pm :)

No criticism, but all this TCSS seems to be about makan in HK and vicinity. Seems most congregate in HK area. Kns, must be captivated by the bright lights of soapies and also LBs (pre and post op) there. :p

... Good area I like it. Stayed at both novotel and aetas. Both excellent hotels. Novotel abit more convenient as bts just outside hotel.
Aetas is inside soi, have to walk quite abit from main road or take their tuku(spelling?). I prefer aetas room better though....like to try aetas at lumpini....better than aetas bangkok and about same price
Aetas Lumpini is newer, and more 'boutique' style. Great brekkie in basement award winning restaurant. Stayed couple of times last 1-2 years, as 5-10 mins walk to Sathorn office. Just 2 doors from Lumpini MRT. But a short hop to likes Nana and SC.

Aetas in Phoenchit got larger rooms, and I was lucky to be bumped up to deluxe once. And had a great 3 some with 2 speed dial lobangs. From living area to bath tub to bed. :p

Just a motorsai ride 10bht at corner Novotel. Can also see the OLs Q up at rush hour. Their in-house tuk2 is good for leaving hotel, not other way round (back).

Sharing street food eats ...... For the crab/prawn glass noodles lovers or in thai called as goong pu ob woon sen can try this roadside stall called Somsak Boo Op located on Charoen rat soi 1 ....... Better than kuang seafood I can guarantee......:D Only downside waiting time to get a seat can be between 15-20mins :o

Very hard to find Singapore style curry chicken in Bangkok.

Try the Breadtalk stall at the basement of Siam Paragon as they do sell nasi lemak, curry chicken and kaya butter toast bread, egg & coffee.

Also check out Singapore Food Republic foodcourt at CentralPlaza Grand Rama9 or Siam Center.

I have eaten the thai style chicken briyani near Khao San before. The stall is in the heart of Khao San but quite hidden. Khao Mok Gai and the Soup Neau aroi mak mak. Would give it best in BKK :D

bro, the huaikhwang night market kueychap stall they also sell yummy pig leg rice, can add pig blood and intentine. its nice. along the middle of the same street there is also a cart-stall sells different kinds of insects.

Once, my Sathorn office after hearing of my soft spot arranged a working lunch with mangos from a famous and popular shop there. Khao niao was freshly done at home. Stuffed, and only sweet nothings from meeting. :p

Best if with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, as I had indulged in some restaurant.
