My quick two cents' worth... Sometimes there are real reasons why MLs cancelled. It might be worth your while to contact the thread advertiser via PM and explain what happened. The webmaster/OKT/whoever might be able to get to the root of the problem and if they value their brand, will do something about it. If they ignore you, well, you've done due diligence by contacting the webmaster/OKT/whoever and you can't be blamed if you decide to name the ML.

Those of us in this long enough will encounter one or two who will cancel at the last minute, sometimes for frivolous reasons and sometimes for very real reasons (like a raid happening, emergency, neighbours are too suspicious etc).

I know it's frustrating but it might be a blessing in disguise - you might've just saved yourself some money :)
