10K notes in Singapore are controlled very tightly by MAS and the identity of the person depositing or withdrawing must be known to the bank. These notes are not meant for mass circulation.
This is required under the MAS and Banking Act and applies to everyone under the laws of the Republic.

The bank actually know your NRIC and who you are from your bank account particulars and teller has to authenticate your identity before any transaction can be carried out on your account. This also applies for normal transaction.
Unless you transact with a passbook, otherwise they need your PIN if you are using your card and your indentity is already confirmed. They will ask for your IC if you are using a passbook. But nowadays people seldom use passbook.

The bank officer also need to record the serial numbers of all the 10K notes transacted for the day.
This must be reported to MAS together with the identity of the person. :D

Like I said. I cannot remember when was the last time I drew a 10k note and if they did take down my IC. But guess I may be outdated. But carrying a 10k note is really no use if you ask me. You cannot deposit it at the cash deposit machine and you are unlikely to be able to change it.

The only reason I would carry a 10k note is if I am going to gamble and hate to stuff my bag with 50 dollar notes.
