After School

Went here and was surprised it wasn’t open yet. Turns out that on Monday they reverted back to their old, shorter hours from 2-11 pm. Should’ve figured that since Tight Jeans was open again.

Came back about 2:20 and this gang of young Koreans was hauling out about 6-7 girls that they had barfined. The place hadn’t been open even half an hour. However, there was still a good number of girls left, even for a weekday. They dun have any of those real ugly, fat girls that even the top bars on Fields have.

Dragon’s Den

Locked up tighter than a drum. Even the name signs have come down.

Roadies

Was shocked. What was once a farang-oriented bar is now a completely Korean-oriented bar. A waitress said the owner is Korean. The music is Korean and Japanese. Plenty of dancers. Some very easy on the eye. Drinks much cheaper than After School next door. Opens early.

Insomnia

Went here for happy hour and they didn’t have any SYTs like last time. Real disappointment. Maybe need to go later at nite or on the weekend.
Went here soon after it opened for the day and a young Korean guy was already about to leave with a girl he had BFd here. These guys are merciless.
Camelot
What a difference a weekend makes! On a weekday, no one caught my eye, but on the weekend, suddenly a couple of cute looking SYTs show up. Problem was they were dancing upstairs, so it was difficult to get a really close view of them.

Rain

Rained hard in the afternoon and there were some drizzles off and on after that.

Dun let these Koreans bother you too much..... I can assure you that these girls that they barfined will be back in the bars within 3 hours. :p

Is it better to buy separate insurance or to buy the inflight insurance from the airline? What is the difference between these two insurance?

AKAN DATANG....... WINDS OF CHANGE IN AC !!

Something big is brewing in AC...... what is it I have no idea yet but the vibes and signs are not encouraging.

A) Several bar managers have quitted and/or given notice that they are quitting their jobs..... it is not just one or two but in the last 48 hrs there were oredi 12 casualties..... and more is believed to follow.

B) BIR actually sent in their representatives to 40 of the bigger bars in Fields & Perimeter to sit in beside the cashier and record every order & cash collection.... these agents sat in for ten days. (Initial feedback is what they had observed and recorded in the 10 days is very far difference from the daily takings reported by the bars previously).

C) Foreign managers will need to apply for permission from City Hall to manage the bars...... after the relevant BI visas / permits had been obtained.

D) Bars are only allowed to have only ONE decently attired doorgal..... the bar will be FINED for each additional or skimpily attired gal found outside the bar entrance.

E) Bars that are raided and closed WILL NOT be allowed to reopen again.

F) For this year...... the bars have to contribute a combined total of 5 million pesos to the City for the welfare needs of the people. (I believe they have already apportioned the amount each bar has to make towards the contribution).

It looks like the bars are coming under heavy pressure from the bloodsuckers.

So serious ah?
And I was considering whether to buy into one of the bars in Perimeter....may have to reconsider again...... anyway thanks for the alert. :)

you see, if you buy from Airline, then it is per trip... and if you buy LCCs the insurance is offered as add-on. For mainline carriers, like SQ/PR, the insurance is factored in .. limited to what is in the terms, like 50 $ refund for lost baggage, limited allowance if flight is delayed/cancelled etc.

So, if you travel LCC a lot, get an annual plan .. if you travel regular Carriers, don't bother much .. as after all, Regular Airlines do take care of the customers, if things go wrong .. like What SQ did, when the plane got hit by Turbulence .. a box of chocolate on arrival to soothe frayed nerves .. and PR when flight is delayed - mineral water bottles as soon as you board the plane, and in another Regular Airline, free meal voucher to be redeemed in the airport when flight was delayed by more than 3 hours ..

Gee, really ? If you wanted to flush money down the toilet, I can suggest you do it in Singapore .. no need to go to AC !!! And remember, when you invest, while there is a silent majority who will be happy for your contribution to the Economy etc, a fair majority will suspect you are hiding more in your safe-house and will innovate ways to relieve it from you .. and make you stress-free, and money free ..

actuli, Cebu Pac did give a free McDees voucher for SGd 10 i think at T2 when their flight from SG to MNL was delayed by about 5 + hours a month back when i took it.

But i would say this is more the exception than the rule. Any flight delays by LCC (worse, flight cancellations) entitles u to nothing more than a refund of the price u paid for your ticket. assuming u refuse to travel on account of the flight delay.

the general concept of the above listed seems a tinge similar to our local broads, where the authorities don't entirely abolish vice, but legalize & help to enforce the vice

not sure if this is a good or bad thing altogether? bcos if things will become so stringent, i'm quite sure the establishments would look to recruit & hire only the lookers, instead of lack luster ones. and if my speculation is correct, no doubt would be better for our eyes, but it would probably drive the price of fun a few notches up (bad for the pockets).

incidental costs for pentalties would eventually be partially burdened upon consumers :(

Yes several bar managers are getting out ASAP..... I manage to speak to a German manager of one of the showbars on why he wants to quit.... the killer reason was the managers do not want to be the ones going to court over tax evasion charges on behalf of the bars.

The data collection by the BIR agents showed a huge difference in the daily collections by the bars and the returns submitted to BIR..... in one particular BIG bar the difference was as much as 99% (and this is the quiet low season)..... the word doing the rounds is that the BIR is going to slap tax evasision charges against the bars and the managers as they were the ones who submitted the false returns on behalf of the bars..... so many of those guilty ones are making a quick exit and leaving the PI if they can. Nobody wants to spend time in a PI jail.

Unless you get it dirt cheap or at distressed asset value, buying AC bar or even property is not a good thing.

It's not just the taxman now after you, cos I think that's just an excuse.

It's a combination of things - the heavy korean presence, esp mafia involvement, the aftermath of local elections where pamintuan tries to boost his coffers, and of course other things as well.

Maybe when all this hoohah has died down a bit, that might be a better time.

Besides, the bars will always be around so no fear of AC changing too much.

:)

I am not throwing money into the bar..... actually I am trying to collect some debts from a bro and he wants to trade his share in the bar as part payment.
He owns 1/3 of the bar and the other 2 owners are both Koreans...... it is a small Korean bar near to the Clarkton hotel.

:D

I am still undecided yet...... I am not too worried about the Koreans as I am quite comfortable with them. The guy who is trying to sell me his share of the bar was a Singaporean who went to join the Korean army.....lol :D

He spent many years in Korea and when he returned to Singapore he could not adapt so he came to live in the PI instead...... if you meet him you'd probably think he is a Korean. :p
