Halal? This is the Philippines.... there's no such thingy as halal in this country.
Do you know that down in Mindanao the Muslims hunt and eat wild boars? I dun think you will be able to find any genuine halal stall in AC. Some may claim to be halal to cater to the middle eastern visitors but I doubt they are really halal.

I didn't know too until the waitress brought me up there. From the looks of it I think it used to be some offices which they had converted into rooms for the staff to use. No charges for using the room. :D

I was there early this year. You should make an effort to visit the Club Alchology. It is a newly opened nightspot along Mango Square and the current "IN" club. The place used to be a Mall which they converted into the nightspot. Be warned that the place is jam packed mainly 90% locals and 10% foreigners. Entrance fee is 100p (locals) and 3000p (foreigners). Top up to 4000p and you get a table. The entrance fee can be used towards your consumables.

I was lucky enough to to share a table with a group of locals comprising 3 gals + 1 guy. Later I found out they were all cousins and even managed to bring one of them back to my room. :D

You will love Cebu........ here the scene is different from AC and it is so easy to pick up girls.

Sorry to mislead. Not stressed or anything about the runner issue as I have not been there yet. Just trying to gain some more insight to minimize the issue as a newbie. Don't have contacts numbers that many seniors seem to gather already so don't have anything to fall back on if I encounter 1 or maybe even 2 runners a night if having bad luck. I just believe cheonging vacations are meant to be "fun" and not having to be a victim.

But I still haven't gotten how to gain "respect" if I'm doing multiple barhops and its my 1st time at any of the bars and nobody know me. Other than walk in, look around and maybe sit down and order a drink (or leave if I don't fancy anything on stage). What else do I need to do to gain "respect"? Hope its not wasting alot of money like the Koreans I hear about buying many girls multiple LDs.
Any tips on this issue. Thanks

Just thought about this. maybe to gain some contacts before reaching AC, perhaps I should start with dating connections. Is DIA the best way to go or other sites for filipinas?.

DIA is for those who are a bit seasoned, can see through scammers, and are smart enough not to keep more than 1000 peso in their wallet, if shit happens, or so ..

A lot of girls in Dating sites are part timing bar girls, looking for the man in shining armour or .. scammers .. it is tough to say who is scammer, and well, even me have been conned, though I walked out of it all the time, though once i was palpitating when the girl threatened to send a posse to my hotel, until I remembered that I had given the hotel in QC when I was in Makati - still .. it was a moment of scare

Oh, well, even those on Live Video are scam - I can pass you enough video of live shows, more often than ever, they are recorded, and possibly played by a guy - though they get a bit careless and you can see tell tale signs .. oh, well, after all, Philippines is sort of the country of most intelligent people without job .. so a scam on a foreigner netting 10,000 $ to 20,0000 is like a start up capital for a business or the cost of a bungalow house, which will in return attract richer girls to the guy - like flies to shit ..

Oh, well, I can even remember the day group tried to sell the Rail ferry Virgin Mary as well as Joseph The Worker, no kidding, we were even given a tour of the whole ferry, and even the captain acknowledged the ship is for sale .. and we could even take for a 'spin' (in seamen terms .. ) though the 'buyer' a seasoned Indonesian ship broker, played along for fun .. and insisted that if not for his industry experience, he would have put the down payment of 30,000 $ .. :)

If the buyer had told that her personally knew the owners of the two ferries, his bet was, we both would have been shot and thrown into the sea .. was the best bet of the 'buyer' ..

No kidding ..

bro, juz gather as much information from this and the other thread as it also makes interesting reading. There is not hard and fast rule on anything. There are different ways of cheonging...some ppl do it once or twice a year, some practically live in PI. So, it is understood there are hits and misses.

Juz relax and go enjoy yourself. With a few visits, you will know what is right for YOU. But I promise you this...if you go without much expectations, you will find AC to be surprisingly pleasant place to spend time! It is compact, all the entertainment in one central location. You can bar hop until you drop! No trikes, no jeeps, nada. Juz walk a few steps. Fields area abt 15 minutes from airport. For me, that is the allure of AC. :D

well not at all true.. u just have to read the labels carefully. if your in manila, places where u can find many halal food are in malate and quiapo area. in a.c, the only certified halal resto i saw so far is the red sea. thought shawarma opp genesis does not serve pork too but cant see halal certification. as for mindanao wild boar eaters, not sure abt that. could be a story of non-muslims or one off story or really really poor people who cant afford proper meals.

the whole of muslims know what fasting mth, ramadan means and even hari raya has 2 days holiday there. that shows the respect towards the muslims that they have.

Well put soundguy, though me thinks with Pirate aversion for runners, other venues eg. Bangkok or Pattaya may be more suitable...

Oh! I thought of a sure way not to get runners...choose the fuglys...!? :eek: :D
