What official line? It's just bullshit spread by a group of selfish business owners who fear going under if the mongers stay away. :mad:

The truth of the matter is this :-

There was a foreigner arrested in the raid. However, he managed to bail out by paying a substantial sum to the cops. (I am not sure of the final sum paid... but rumors put it at 250K pesos).

The arrest of a customer has made several business owners worried coz if people start staying away for fear of being arrested..... many of these business would go bust. Hence there is a concerted effort by these business owners and their managers to spread false news that everything is as per normal in AC.

It IS NOT normal situation in AC especially the Perimeters bars..... which is getting a lot more police visits than ever before.

Fields ave is a ghost town and the beggars and vendors are desperate.
Gangs of beggar kids and LBs are blatantly snatching and thieving in broad daylight on tourist victims..... usually on those lone rangers. Even seasoned experienced mongers are not spared.

Yesterday morning a big sized black American was leaving the Phillys Sports bar after his breakfast when he was bumped by a LB who then walked away briskly.... the American immediately checked his pocket and started going after the LB..... before he could even get near the LB.... another LB tripped him and as the black guy fell to the ground a few more LBs appeared and helped themselves to his pockets. They all scooted off by the time the black guy managed to recover. He discovered he had lost his cellphone, cash & wallet to the LBs..... luckily for him he had some emergency cash stashed inside his Bermudas hidden pocket.

I think you got the raids mixed up.

The Candy bar raid was because of mamasan and girl issue.

The Baby Dolls raid was the one in which the foreigner customer was arrested for barfine.

I'm not the one conducting the raids so how would I know?
But my gut feeling is that it will be another Perimeter bar again as it seems the cops plainclothes presence and surveillance activities has greatly increased in this area.

As far as I know.... the US government WILL NOT render any assistance if their citizens are arrested for mongering activities. The same applies for the Singapore Embassy. They will hold a watching brief to monitor the situation but will not interfere with the PNP's handing of the case.

This case is damn bloody unfair to these 2 women..... they are being made the scapegoats in the cops bid to extort money from the bar owner.

The cops have already released the foreigner arrested for barfine after he paid up 250K pesos. They wanted 100K each from the bar owner for the release of the cashier and the mamasan. However the bar owner has done a disappearing act and the cops are holding these 2 women to force him to come up with the money...... that bloody coward would rather hide and let his staff take the blame.

I pity the cashier as she was only 2 days into the job and had received the barfine as it was her job as a cashier to keep the money in the cash register.... now she is in the slammer for doing her job because her ball less cowardly boss refuses to come out of hiding to take the blame..... and she has to worry about her 2 kids left with a neighbor..... a 3yr old boy and a 5 month old baby girl. :mad:

This case and the subsequent actions of the business owners make my blood boil.

Very good update. Otherwise we would have been suckered by those bar owners into believing everything is back to normal in AC. I will KIV my upcoming trip until the situation improves. :)

In bad times everyone is dire straits....... but those working still have a basic pay and would not steal from you...... unlike those with no income who become desperate and will rob in daylight.

Worst case, the girls will all believe they can go to Japan or Korea or Singapore and make more money .. don't try to drive logic to their thinking that not all get to go overseas and make money .. they will go 'my cousin will bring me there .. '

Exactly, not just in PH, in any poor country. When people see an opportunity, they grab it .. don't let them see your weakness. If you are not street smart, switch to my mode - no expensive phone, not too much money and not much jewellery .. heck, my Friend got drunk in Pattaya and was relieved of his wedding band .. so ??

I wouldn't say desperate . it is more like 'supplement' their income .. did you find out why there are so many street kids and nobody does anythign to them ? partly because they are supplementing some cops income and such .. so why upset the apple cart ?
