thank you bros for the replies, from the sound of it subic may be worth checking out... besides the bars any notable places to do or visit while in subic? im checking online also but better to hear frm ppl personal experiences and stuff... cheers again bros... :)

Basically nothing much action in subic, above Bros mention is already almost there unless u wanna charter a yacht n have a seafood lunch with your friends n gals. Broad the yacht at subic n yacht will drive out to the sea n stop for your seafood lunch or swimming, all this depends on your budget.... Lots of tourists here charter yacht n gained the experience of luxury lifestyle n yet pay much lesser in their own country.

I'm contemplating between Pattaya or Angeles city..the only turn off for AC is these stories about their customs. Bros who have been there recently. Do they pat u down or something and search or ask for money? Thanks

Well, as a third world country, almost anywhere in PH, folks in uniform try to extract money, with a smile or without - though mostly it is with a smile. And folks in uniform here are super lowly paid, so low they can't survive without extras. Including driving taxi after office - yep, I met cop who is a taxi driver on weekends... and another who has 2 trikes in Binalonan and another, who has 'invested' in a jeepney - and drives it after work hours, to supplement his low income. And some take up exotic jobs, like bodyguarding (with service weapons at their disposal) and also some take up even more freelance works - murder for hire ;) But that's the extremes ...

You don't give money if you don't want to, and if you carry no contraband or banned items, or breaking any law, with a smile you can say NO.

I never bribed anybody in Ph, in customs or Immigration or anywhere, though I make sure banned stuff like scissors, small knifes, lighter etc are not in my hand carried luggage.

When the immigration security (not the immigration - it is always the lowly paid security) - try to get money saying "you have extra peso" or .. "you like to give me some money" or .. "merry christmas .. " I just feign ignorance and pretend I didn't hear them, or with a smile say "Merry christmas .. " and walk. Though some folks here too said to slip in peso - I see no need. In my case, I have seen friends being accused of attempted bribery and possible bigger shake down, when the money wasn't enough .. ! So I never seen any reason to 'slip' peso ..

I never got scammed in Airport, or sea ports or any place of official business. Though the 'fixers' always try ...

On that score, strike out your fears.

There is nothing to see and do in Subic in my opinion... the AC is much much better night life... I went there once and I don't think I will go back again.

1. Bar hopping in Subic bars
2. Bar hopping in Olongapo City bars
3. Seafood

These are the only 3 things you can do in Subic. I found it to be a dead town, very few bars, girls not beautiful, atmosphere/music in the bars not as vibrant as Angeles, few restaurants or food choices, very few money changers, few massage places. Everything I felt I've gotten downgraded when compared to Angeles. Plus it's a pain to reach there with need to change bus etc. Not worth the hassles. Went there once I'll never return.

thank you for the input bros... yah im guessing now subic is different kinda playground from ac itself maybe suited to certain type of cheongster... will see how it goess :)...on another note im kinda curious now what other activities our bros in ac have engaged in besides the obvious bar hopping, any tours outside the city? visited any place of special interest? etc as for myself ive gone to the shooting range at mountain clark which was good fun actually, went to casino plus the usual look see look see at the usual shopping mall, other than that would love to hear what others get up to during the day. i know this a specific forum for mongering but thought i mix things up a bit and start a discussion about different activities... if you think its inappropriate here please ignore my question then... cheers
