You’re talking about China ? PRC ? Then you forgot to mention the 16 million people that Mao killed. And what the Japanese did to the Chinese, including using their women as sex slaves, until the Americans saved China by nuking Japan.

Incidentally, allied forces including the Indian Army thrashed the Japanese at Imphal and Kohima. Their worst ever defeat until then.

Read a history book. Then you’ll discover interesting facts like, for example, that India dominated vast parts of South East Asia for 17 centuries. If you PM me, I can recommend a good one ��

To my pleasant surprise, the group had grown in number while I was away! My Hong Kong counterpart, Roger, who looked after Northern Asia, had turned up unexpectedly. He was just as happy as the rest of us for the same reason. He and I get along really well, and we greeted each other warmly. Yet another bottle of Champagne was ordered!

Roger’s wife is Singaporean, and they often came across to Singapore for weekends. Elaine was with him, and along with her was her younger sister, Jenny. Both girls were attractive and smartly dressed. I’d met Elaine before, but not Jenny.

Jenny was very similar in appearance to her sister, except that she was a little taller than her. I’m 1.80, and with her heels Jenny was about 5 - 6 cm shorter than me. She was slim, had small but perky breasts, slightly curly shoulder length hair, brown eyes, prominent cheek bones, and a clear complexion with light make up. Lovely dimples appeared when she smiled. She wore a short black dress which fitted her well, along with pearl earrings and a simple pearl necklace. Definitely a very, very classy lady! I guessed that Jenny was in her mid 30s, and she looked very fit.

Elaine was similarly dressed, and the girls could almost have been twins!

I should add that I was pretty well turned out, too. I had come straight from work, and was in my formal suit. All my suits are Italian, and they fit me well. People have often told me that I look really smart in a suit 😬.

Jenny had a nice laugh. We caught each other’s eye a few times, and enjoyed the humour of the group. Elaine was giving Roger a hard time about how he was going to spend his windfall, and we really enjoyed their banter. I was being the perfect host, making sure that there was enough to drink and that people’s glasses were topped up.

All of a sudden I felt a tap on my arm. I looked around in surprise, and saw the receptionist. “Your visitor is here sir”, he said. “She’s waiting in the reception”. Everyone heard that, and Elaine laughed! “Fast mover, eh ? Just been a short while in Singapore, and already girls are waiting for you in the reception”. I turned a little red, put my hands up, and said “It’s not what you think. Let me come back and I’ll explain”.

With that I made a quick dash to my car which was parked in the club’s car park, grabbed the wallet and went off to meet Sharon C ...

Sharon C was waiting for me alone in the reception. She stood up as I walked up to her, and introduced herself “ Hi, I’m Sharon C. So sorry to trouble you”.

She was pretty in a “ girl next door” way. Not glamorous, but still attractive. The complete opposite of Jenny. Long straight black hair, spectacles, slim and petite (about 153). She was not dressed to go partying, clearly - she was wearing jeans, sneakers and a loose t-shirt, so one couldn’t make out her figure. She seemed to have a slightly shy personality, and was pleasant and likeable. (I’ll put some photos up soon).

All this is just my quick first impression, because I didn’t spend more than two minutes with her.

She was looking somewhat worried, but that changed immediately when she opened the wallet that I handed to her. A look of relief came across her face, and she looked up at me with an expression of gratitude. Before she could say a word, I smiled at her and said “Have a good trip”, turned and went back to join my group.

I had no reason to stay there any longer. Sharon C was travelling, and surely needed to leave quickly. I was impatient to return to my group, where I had some great company waiting for me. I believe in karma, and that good deeds will bring good rewards to me, and felt pleased that I had helped someone. Her thanks were not needed.

As I walked back, I thought about what I would tell the group about her. I should spin a little story, I thought. No harm in playing along a bit to build my image :D

The group was in conversation when I returned, but stopped when they saw me. I figured that they must have been talking about me. Elaine gave me a quizzing look, and I winked at her in return, which made everybody laugh.

I was welcomed back and one of my colleagues said “So tell us about this mystery woman”.

I laughed. “Just a poor girl who dropped a wallet full of money and her passport in our office carpark. I found it as I was leaving. She needed it back in a hurry as she is flying tomorrow”.

More laughter. “Was she pretty? And grateful ?”

“Very pretty and very grateful” I said. “We’ll have lunch when she returns”.

At that point the bell rang, indicating that the bar was going to close soon. As we finished our drinks and started winding up, Roger suggested that we go on elsewhere as the night was still young. Three couples dropped out. Roger, Elaine, Jenny, I and one remaining couple decided to go on to the Regent bar close by.

I wasn’t going to drive, so I left my car keys at the reception and said I’d collect my car the next day. There were six people, so we took two taxis. Jenny and the couple went in one, Roger, Elaine and I in the other. Roger sat in front, leaving Elaine and I in the back. That seemed a little strange, but no big deal.

“So how are you liking Singapore, JJ ?” asked Elaine.

“It’s a great life for an expat, and the work culture is excellent” I said .. “but I don’t have much of a personal life”.

Eliane was sitting close to me as she spoke, and our knees were touching. It was hard to avoid getting turned on. She was wearing a great perfume, delicate and sensual, and she had become even more attractive after a few drinks. I needed to remind myself that she was Roger’s wife.

“You need a girlfriend” she laughed. Elaine and Roger knew my personal history. “You know, I think my sister likes you”.

In my mind I thought “I’m not going to mess with Roger’s sister-in-law. She is a dream girl, but any problems I may have with her will upset Roger ”.

So I said to Elaine “Oh come on. A stunning girl like Jenny must have dozens of handsome men after her, what does she want with an older guy like me”. Not so much older, just a way of closing the topic.

“Don’t underestimate yourself, JJ” replied Elaine, touching me on the cheek. Then we arrived at the Regent and got out to join the others.
