Why need to be discreet leh?
Smartphone need an account to use. Just create an account for the vb and use it to track.
Most vb only use smartphone for game and social network apps... They don't know about tracking and finding phone so seldom use the apps.
Andriod powered by google and there is a apps call andriod device manager.
For Iphone, there is icloud and find my iphone.
Best is there is erase and reset function... Anything not right, erase and rest the phone to factory condition thru the apps
