Coming from a female point of view, this does sound fuxking damn cheapo to me.

Who in their right mind will share cost for hotel room with you?

A date should include a dinner (nothing fancy, no need atas place), coffee or drinks at a quiet place (please, no kopitiam). If the feel is there, proceed to "coffee" elsewhere only if the lady is okay with it. If no mood, the least you can do is be a gentleman and at least send the lady home if you are driving or at least send them to the station or bus stop if you don't drive. All these I believe most ladies expect the guy to be paying (at least on the first few dates) for it.
