There is no treatment for dengue, so maybe that's why the hospitals there send the patients home.
In Singapore, dengue patients are warded in CDC. As dengue is a viral infection, there is no known medicine for the virus at the moment. Patients are given medicine to treat the accompanying symptoms instead. It is the patient's own immune system that fights the virus infection so the patient needs plenty of rest and rehydration. Whether he survives or not depends on his own. Sometimes blood transfusion is given to boost his immune system for a better fighting chance.
If you ever happen to get the dengue while overseas in the poorer countries, it is best to fly back to Singapore asap, at least in the hospitals here you are able to get support to fight the virus.
