This perception of tie-wearing is a legacy of those colonials. Many times we read in the papers: "Well dressed robber with collar and tie and suit, walked into a jewelry shop and robbed it" ....so, "well dressed" = "wearing tie" = good man ......maybe I will start wearing a tie when bonking Filipinos to escape arrest
