Personally I feel that first month is the most tricky because both are new to each other and trust is not there. That is why normally I prefer to chat with the potential SB a little - to test responses and communication and to gauge the "compatibility". I will normally not discuss payment before meeting. Then a meet-up session. This is where judgement can be made if you like the girl or not and vice versa. This is when payment method can be discussed.
Ideally I would pay weekly (like if meeting twice a week) - I pay 2 meeting in advance. This is just for the first month. If the SB insisted on monthly (which I will not agree - unless very exceptional circumstances) or bi-monthly - which I may consider. It depends on how much I like her - the vibes she gives me. Is she responsive during offline communication? Actually there is no real good answer but your judgement call.
SB is not an FL - so paying few meeting (2 or 3 ) in advance for the 1st Month is something I can agree. It make the girl feels more settled and less transactional. If everything works well in the first month, subsequent monthly payment is easy - twice a month in advance is my norm.
At the end of the day, each has its own preference. If a SB has specific request - it is much better to state it upfront in the thread. Like if the SB only can accept monthly or bi-monthly payment - state so. If SD responding to her - meaning he has already accept so that when they meet - no argument.
I will normally ignore girls that don't state up front. And during email communication, the first thing they ask is the payment method.
Just my 2 cents. No right or wrong. All happy hunting. I found mine and happy with mine. Mine is very understanding - accepting per meet during 1st 2 months. So I rewarded her in other way. And we increased our meet-ups and $ and then settled for twice a month payment.

I had bad experience with few SB.
I had a SB which we get along very well. We agreed to pay per meet. After few months of knowing her, she ask for advancement. So I gave her and now MIA.
I really give up on SB and now rather go for pay and get service and case close.
Wish those SD find the right one.
