Sex blogger alvin tan: I only studied law because nus offered it to me for free

SEX BLOGGER ALVIN TAN: I ONLY STUDIED LAW BECAUSE NUS OFFERED IT TO ME FOR FREE Post date: 11 Feb 2015 - 7:50pm People keep asking me why I don't continue studying to be a lawyer. Here's the low-down for the umpteenth time: it's just not what I want in life. That's it. I don't know why people find that so incomprehensible. I just don't want to sit in an office all day filing affidavits and drafting letters of advice to clients. That's not what I want to do with my potential, my skills and knowledge, and my limited time on earth. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND!? #人蠢冇藥醫 Edit: So why did I even choose to study law back then? 1) Because it was offered to me for free (scholarship), and 2) because I was stupid and didn't know what options were really available back then. I didn't know how big the world was and how limitless the possibilities that the world offered were. And I was still scripted by the mindset that, if you didn't go to university, you're a failure. If you did, you're a success. I now know that to be nonsense; that's just what parents would like you to think for their selfish bragging privileges. In fact, my parents KNOW that I'm an exception, that I'll survive and thrive with or without a degree. They even know that having to pursue a degree will slow me down. They know all of that. They just couldn't stomach the fact that they raised a non-graduate, something unthinkable when I was a little kid winning first prize in primary school all the time. It's blasphemy. It's dishonoring the family's name. It's a total waste of time, money, and effort to bring up a child who doesn't even eventually wear the four-angled hat. So why precisely did I select law? When I chose to study law then, I was really answering the question, "IF I HAD TO GO TO UNIVERSITY, what career path would I choose?" But I didn't have to go to university. It's a false choice. Eventually, I removed the "if" part and simply asked, "What career path would I choose?" And then so many other things sprang to mind, and I started exploring them. I dabbled in the stock market, I started a technology startup (that still exists today and contributes to my income), I dicked around with porn and YouTube, and now I'm giving porn and acting a shot. I'm in no rush to succeed, to buy cars and houses, to get married, etc. That's all crap.
