Nepal Hit By Another Moderate Quake Today
KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale rumbled across Nepal at 7.34 pm today (Malaysian time).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement issued here that the quake's epicentre was 319 kilometres North West of Dinajpur in Bangladesh, and 2,753km North West of Padang Besar, Perlis.

The department said a moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale also hit Xizang (Tibet) at the same time (7.34 pm) Saturday.

The quake's epicentre was 316km North West of Dinajpur, and 2,757km North West of Padang Besar.

The earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat, it said.

The April 25 massive earthquake and May 12 powerful aftershock killed more than 8,500 people in Nepal and damaged property worth billions of dollars.

According to the United Nations, almost eight million people, which is more than a quarter of Nepal's population, were affected by the recent earthquakes.
