 Mr Farid Khan Kaim Khan, a Singaporean of Pakistani-Arab descent has announced his bid for the Elected Presidency this year. He said that he wanted to fulfil the people's wish and trust by contesting in this reserved elections for the Malay community. Farid Khan is the Chariman of marine services provider Bourbon Offshore Asia which has a shareholder equity of S$400 million, $100 million short of the $500 million needed to qualify for the Elected Presidency. He is also founder of Bumi Subsea, an undersea operations company specialising in remotely operated undersea vehicles for the oil and gas industry. Farid said he was most concerned with radicalism within the community and if elected will work closely with the Government to solve this issue.
